The Chief's Mess
There is a great tradition in the US Navy - The Chief's Mess
The Chief's Mess is an organization of Chief Petty Officers; born of the separate lounge, meeting and eating areas reserved only for those of Chief Petty Officer rank aboard ships and at naval stations, this "Mess" is a club that few achieve in their career.
Here at Vollrath Division, we have been very lucky to have multiple cadets with the grit, determination and work ethic to achieve this coveted rank and join the Chief's Mess.
The moment a cadet is accepted into the Chief's Mess is a momentous one - It is considered a high honor bestowed by another Chief. Vollrath honors this tradition - Below, Chief Petty Officer Eve Schilling is accepted into the Chief's Mess in 2020. Picture right are CPO Jackson Raad and then-LPO Eve Schilling at CPO's graduation in 2019.

Chief Petty Officer Eli Mumm - Appointed 2021
CPO Mumm joined Vollrath in 2017 and has served in multiple roles including Master at Arms, Color Guard Captain and as a squad leader. He was appointed LPO in July 2020 and currently serves as our highest-ranking cadet as Leading Chief Petty Officer (LCPO). LCPO Mumm has recently begun his senior in high school and also works as an electrician's assistant and participates in both his high school wrestling and baseball teams.
Chief Petty Officer Eve Schilling - Appointed 2020
CPO Eve Schilling started her career in NLCC Training Ship Abingdon in 2013. Over the years, she moved through many different roles in Vollrath Division and earned her promotion to Chief Petty Officer from NSCC National Headquarters in March 2020.
This achievement was significant for more than the usual reasons - CPO Schilling is Vollrath's first ever female chief petty officer. Her commitment to the unit did not stop when she graduated high school in June 2020, as she joined the ranks of adult staff as Division Officer that same month. Now Midshipmen Schilling, she looks forward to starting nursing school in the fall of 2020.

Chief Petty Officer Jackson Raad - Appointed 2019
CPO Jackson Raad began his career with Vollrath in 2016 as a Seaman Recruit. Over his career he excelled as a leader and over the course of his three year tenure, he earned his appointment to the Chief's Mess in May 2019.
CPO Raad was also an exceptional student and was accepted to the US Naval Academy, US Coast Guard Academy and West Point. He enrolled in the Naval Academy and departed for the next chapter with a letter of recommendation from his time in the unit.
